Don Tate is the illustrator of numerous critically acclaimed books for children, including Roto and Roy: Helicopter Heroes (Little Brown, 2022) and Swish! The Slam-Dunking, Alley-Ooping, High-Flying Harlem Globetrotters (Little Brown, 2020). He is the author of William Still and His Freedom Stories: The Father of the Underground Railroad (Peachtree, 2020); and Strong As Sandow: How Eugen Sandow Became The Strongest Man on Earth (Charlesbridge, 2017). He is a founding host of the Brown Bookshelf, a blog dedicated to raising the awareness of the myriad of African Americans creating books for young readers.
