Jesse Treviño may be San Antonio’s most visible artist. Internationally known for realist paintings and public artworks representing the history and cultural institutions of Mexican Americans, his work is held by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, among many other museums. His work “Spirit of Healing,” a nine-story hand-cut tile mosaic, graces Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital in downtown San Antonio, and is the subject of the book Spirit: The Life and Art of Jesse Treviño.
