FAQs

The 9th annual San Antonio Book Festival will take place entirely online April 9-11, 2021. You can register to attend for free at sabookfestival.org/online-edition.

The Book Festival is free and open to all. A small number of sessions will require a book purchase, but the overwhelming majority of Festival sessions are free of charge. 

The author lineup and full schedule of events will be announced March 9, 2021 and will be available at sabookfest.org/online-edition. You can always subscribe to the SABF newsletter to receive Festival updates directly in your inbox.

To access the virtual Festival, attendees will need to register on the online platform at sabookfestival.org/online-edition with an email address. After registering, attendees can sign up to attend as many sessions as they’d like.

Some, but not all, sessions will be available to replay after the Festival has ended on SABF’s YouTube channel. Subscribe to the SABF newsletter to receive the news when this happens.

After registering, you will be directed to your profile page. Based on your individual preferences, you can select to accept meeting requests or direct messages from other Festival attendees, hide your personal contact information from Festival exhibitors, or hide your profile entirely from the People section of the Festival platform. Your level of interaction is entirely up to you.

The San Antonio Book Festival is proud to partner with locally owned and operated Nowhere Bookshop, to provide easy online purchasing options for each of our virtual events. Each festival event page includes links to purchase books.

All Festival author books purchased from Nowhere Bookshop support the authors and publishers who share their work at the festival and the booksellers who have worked hard to keep their businesses open during these difficult times. Your book purchases through Nowhere Bookshop supports the sustainability of the Festival.

We are hoping to offer signed books for purchase whenever possible; however, personalized books will not be possible in the virtual environment, we are sorry.

Invitations to be featured in the 2021 San Antonio Book Festival are no longer being issued and submissions are no longer being considered. Please visit the Festival submission guidelines to see if your book is eligible for consideration for the 2022 Book Festival.

The San Antonio Book Festival runs on your donations! The more you donate, the bigger and better we can make the Festival in all the years to come. Donations also assist in our many educational outreach programs. Click here for information on how to donate.

While we typically rely on the support of several hundred volunteers who help us pull the Festival off, a virtual format is not conducive to volunteer opportunities.
