About the Event

Join two authors whose work explores the trials and tribulations of regular kids. In Kayla Miller’s Crunch: A Click Graphic Novel 5, Olive is balancing the many, many things she wants to do with the few, few hours in the day to do them. When everything adds up, suddenly it’s crunch time! In Saadia Faruqi’s Marya Khan and the Fabulous Jasmine Garden, Marya works hard to prove that she can be in charge of her school’s community garden, but her plans backfire. Can she bring everyone together to create the most fabulous jasmine garden the school has ever seen? Join Saadia Faruqi and Kayla Miller in conversation about their new books. The authors will be introduced by students from the Young Women’s Leadership Academy.

Saadia Faruqi

Saadia Faruqi was born in Pakistan and moved to the United States when she was 22 years old. She writes the Yasmin series and popular novels such as Marya Khan and the Incredible Henna Party and Yusuf Azeem Is Not a Hero. Besides writing books for kids, she also loves reading, binge-watching her favorite shows, and taking naps. She lives in Houston with her family. Her latest book is Marya Khan and the Fabulous Jasmine Garden.

Kayla Miller

Kayla Miller is the author and illustrator of the New York Times-bestselling Click graphic novel series and co-author of its spin-off series, Besties. They studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and graduated with a BFA in Illustration. Kayla currently lives and works in New York state and when not writing or drawing they enjoy watching bad movies, trying to cook new recipes, playing board games, and reading other people’s graphic novels. Their latest graphic novel is called Crunch: A Click Graphic Novel.
