About the Event

In 1937 San Antonio, thirteen-year-old Petra has to drop out of school to work at a factory in Lupe Ruiz-Flores’s The Pecan Sheller. In Adrianna Cuevas’s What Fell from the Sky, it’s March 1952 in Lariat County, Texas and Pineda just wants to hang out with his friends – until he sees men parachuting from the sky. Join these powerhouse middle-grade writers for a discussion about true stories in Texas history, adventure and coming-of-age, and the importance of standing up for what’s right.
