Catherine Nixon Cooke is the author of eight biographies and histories, including In Search of Tom Slick: Explorer and Visionary, Powering a City: How Energy and Big Dreams Transformed San Antonio, Juan O’Gorman: A Confluence of Civilizations, and The Thistle and the Rose: Romance, Railroads, and Big Oil in Revolutionary Mexico. In addition to her writing career, she has served as CEO of several nonprofit organizations, including the Mind Science Foundation, the San Antonio River Foundation, the World Affairs Council of San Antonio, and the international NGO, the Mountain Institute, with field offices in mountainous regions around the world. Her biography of Tom Slick is now in production as a podcast, starring Andy Samberg as the voice of Tom Slick. San Antonio: City on a Mission is her latest book.

Henry Cisneros
Henry Cisneros is a civic leader, businessman, author and philanthropist who served as mayor of San Antonio from 1981 to 1989. He was the first Latino mayor of one of America’s top 10 most populous cities and served as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Cabinet of President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1997. Throughout his career in politics and business, Cisneros has been a powerful presence in the nation’s urban progress. He has authored, edited, and collaborated on numerous articles and books, including The Texas Triangle: An Emerging Power in the Global Economy, published in 2021. His latest book is San Antonio: City on a Mission.
