Submit a Book

The 2026 San Antonio Book Festival (SABF) will take place on April 11, 2026. SABF will present anywhere from 90 to 100 authors at the annual event, from Texas and beyond, whose books are first published within a year of the Festival (April 15, 2025 – April 16, 2026). Submit a book for consideration at the button below.

Please Note:

  • Submissions for the 2026 SABF opened on June 20, 2025 and close on December 19, 2025.
  • Due to the high number of submissions received, SABF is unable to acknowledge receipt of forms or books.
  • Submitted materials will not be returned. Books not selected for the line-up are donated to schools, libraries, and hospitals.
  • Should you be selected to be a part of the Festival program, you will hear back no later than February 6, 2026. Due to the high number of submissions, we are unable to respond to inquiries if a book has not been selected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Books should be submitted between June 20, 2025 and December 19, 2025. Submitting your book earlier is appreciated, as there are many books to review. Submissions received after December 19, 2025 will not be considered.

SABF’s Literary Director considers the submissions and, with the assistance of staff and a Programming Committee of authors and writing professionals, selects the lineup. While evaluating submissions, we consider not only a book’s literary merit but where it might fit in with rest of the lineup and the reading habits of our audience.

  • Fiction, including all genres such as thrillers and Westerns
  • Narrative nonfiction—history, biography, memoir, and essays
  • Poetry
  • Young People’s Literature—picture books, early reader, middle grade, young adult, etc.
  • Art and Architecture titles
  • Cookbooks and food-related titles

SABF will present anywhere from 90 to 100 authors at the annual event, from Texas and beyond, whose books are published within a year of the Festival (April 15, 2025 – April 16, 2026).

SABF focuses on the promotion of literature and Texas literary culture. Books solely on the topics of self-improvement or how-to, books by authors who are deceased, or books strictly of academic or religious interest will not be considered. We do not consider books that use art (including cover art) and/or written content created by artificial intelligence (AI). At this time we do not consider books available only in e-book or audio format. For the 2026 SABF, we will only consider books published within a year of the Festival (April 15, 2025 – April 16, 2026).

We typically do not accept books published through self-publishing platforms and services. However, exceptions have been made. We welcome all author submissions that meet the below criteria:

  • The book has, or will have upon publication, an EAN barcode, an ISBN, and a LCCN number.
  • The title is bound, and printed copies are available, or will be available, for purchase via an established wholesaler or distributor so our partner bookstore can sell them. Checking with your publisher is advised.
  • The book has been professionally edited and a marketing plan is in place.
  • The author maintains an accessible website.

To submit a book for consideration, you will need to complete two steps:

  1. Fill out the form at the button above or linked here.
  2. We will also need to receive ONE COPY of a finished book/galley/ARC/bound manuscript by mail. Please send to:

San Antonio Book Festival
Attn: Jamie Leija
