The 2025 San Antonio Book Festival (SABF) will take place on April 12, 2025. SABF will present approximately 100 authors at the annual event, from Texas and beyond, whose books are published within a year of the Festival (April 15, 2024 – April 16, 2025).

Please Note:

  • Submissions for the 2025 SABF opened on June 20, 2024 and closed on December 20, 2024.
  • Due to the high number of submissions received during from June 20, 2024 – December 20, 2024, SABF is unable to acknowledge receipt of forms or books.
  • Should you be selected to be a part of the Festival program, you will hear back no later than February 7, 2025. Due to the high number of submissions, we are unable to respond to inquiries if a book has not been selected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Books were accepted by the San Antonio Book Festival via completed submissions between June 20 and December 20, 2024. Submissions received after December 20, 2024 will not be considered.

SABF’s Literary Director considers the submissions and, with the assistance of staff and a Programming Committee of authors and writing professionals, selects the lineup. While evaluating submissions, we consider not only a book’s literary merit but where it might fit in with rest of the lineup.

  • Fiction, including all genres such as thrillers and Westerns
  • Narrative nonfiction—history, biography, memoir, and essays
  • Poetry
  • Young People’s Literature—picture books, early reader, middle grade, young adult, etc.
  • Art and Architecture titles

SABF focuses on the promotion of literature and Texas literary culture. Books on the topics of self-improvement, cookbooks, how-to, books by authors who are deceased, or books strictly of academic or religious interest will not be considered.

We typically do not accept books published through self-publishing platforms and services. However, exceptions have been made. We welcome all author submissions that meet the below criteria:

  • The book has, or will have upon publication, an EAN barcode, an ISBN, and a LCCN number.
  • The title is bound, and printed copies are available, or will be available, for purchase via an established wholesaler or distributor so our partner bookstore can sell them. Checking with your publisher is advised.
  • The book has been professionally edited and a marketing plan is in place.
  • The author maintains an accessible website.
