The 8th annual San Antonio Book Festival, which was scheduled to take place on April 4, 2020, has been canceled due to growing concerns around the COVID-19. We have compiled the list of FAQ below. If your question is not included, please contact us at sabf@sabookfest.org.
Buy their books! We put a lot of thought into which writers appear at the Festival every year and our 2020 lineup provides plenty of great reading. We also encourage you to patronize the Festival’s partners who will lose business because the Festival isn’t happening this year. They include Barnes & Noble, Nowhere Bookshop, and our food trucks and restaurant partners, like the Esquire Tavern and Ricos Products. The Festival’s food trucks include: Cori Jean’s Ice Cream, Slider Provider, Cheesy Jane’s, Jerk Shack, Alamo City Concession, Uncle Danny’s Backyard BBQ, Mi Taquito Arandas Jalisco, Pepito’s Italian Ice, and Benjie’s Munch.
And if you haven’t checked out the exhibitions at the Southwest School of Art, please do so, and patronize the San Antonio Public Library. Blue Star Contemporary, Brick, and Bar 1919 had all generously donated their spaces as our Lit Crawl San Antonio venues.
The Festival is built for live interaction among writers and readers of all kinds. Because we would want to include all the writers we were featuring in 2020, it’s impossible to produce an online version of the Festival this year.
The luncheon has been rescheduled to November 30. Table sponsors will be contacted by Festival staff. Thank you in advance for your patience while staff deals with the implications of canceling the Festival.
