The Book Festival takes place on Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (we advise you to arrive early as events begin promptly at 10:00), but did you know there are other Festival events happening over the weekend? From intimate author lunches to raucous performances on the big stage, we offer a number of ways to get more out of the Book Festival—in addition to the terrific all day author sessions, activities, sales, and signings at the Festival itself!

LITERARY FEAST
April 1, 2016

St. Anthony Hotel
On Friday, April 1—the evening before the Book Festival—the San Antonio Public Library Foundation will host its annual SABF Literary Feast, a salon-style dinner featuring authors Stephen Harrigan and Thomas Mallon in conversation with Dan Goodgame about going off the (historical) record with two great presidents. This elegant evening at the St. Anthony Hotel combines great literary entertainment with cocktails, conversation, and delicious dinner to raise funds for SAPLF and SABF. In collaboration with the Rivard Report, this year we are adding a brand new event for our millennial hipsters. Details will be forthcoming, but we can share the following: It will be awesome. BOOK IT LUNCHEONS

Take a quick break to dine with a Festival author: New this year, Book It luncheons provide an opportunity to sit down to an intimate lunch with an author and eight companions. We are offering four Book It luncheons—three on the day of the festival and one the day prior. Festival attendees can Book It with Kate Bolick, H.W. Brands, Skip Hollandsworth, or an author yet to be named. Ticket pricing is available at www.saplf.org/events/book-it-luncheons, and all funds raised will benefit SABF.
LITERARY DEATH MATCH

Our celebratory conclusion to the Book Festival, the hilarious and irreverent Literary Death Match will once again close out the weekend. Hailed as the “most entertaining reading series every” by the LA Times, LDM is a guaranteed night of laughter, lit, and libations. Three judges. Four authors competing for the title of San Antonio LDM 2016 Champion. Don’t miss out on this epic event.
This year’s competitors include Sara Benincasa (D.C. Trip), Jamie Brickhouse (Dangerous When Wet: A Memoir), David Crabb (Bad Kid: A Memoir), and Joaquín Zihuatanejo (Fight: Poems). Click here for ticket information.
