On November 18, 2024, the San Antonio Book Festival held a field trip version of its educational initiative, the Authors in Schools program, and brought celebrated author and illustrator LINCOLN PEIRCE to the Majestic Theatre in the heart of downtown San Antonio. More than 1,100 students from partner schools in SAISD and Edgewood ISD heard the author talk about his bestselling series “Big Nate” and “Max and the Midknights,” watched a live drawing demonstration, and celebrated creativity and reading. Each student in attendance received a free copy of Max and the Midknights: Tower of Time signed by Lincoln Peirce himself.
The SABF’s Authors in Schools is a hands-on literacy initiative that sends nationally recognized authors into Title 1 elementary, middle, and high schools to inspire young readers with dynamic presentations and copies of the authors’ books to build their own personal library.
