We are thrilled to present the 3rd Annual San Antonio Book Festival! The SABF team has worked diligently to present new and exciting Festival events this year!
SABF’S 1ST LITERARY FEAST: On Friday, April 10th, the night before the Festival, authors Naomi Shihab Nye and Lawrence Wright will be featured at a special salon-style dinner at The Argyle Club, hosted by Ann Ash to benefit SABF. The moderator is Dan Goodgame, whose former experience as a newspaper correspondent in the Middle East will help lead the evening’s conversation, which will center on the changing dialogue of peace in the Middle East.
SABF’s 1st film screening: All About the Groove is a feature-length documentary about San Antonio native Doug Sahm, master of Tex-Mex roots-rock music. After the film’s presentation at the Festival—the first in San Antonio—there will be a Q&A with author, music journalist and the film
SABF’s 1st Pitchapalooza: The brainchild of Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry, cofounders of The Book Doctors, Pitchapalooza grants 20 writers the opportunity to pitch a book idea to a panel of judges. Contestants will have one minute to present their pitches, then will receive critique from the judges. “Everyone has an idea for a book, but Pitchapalooza lets those ideas compete, with the winner getting the chance to present his or her idea to literary agents,” says SABF Literary Director Clay Smith. “It’s a lot of fun for the audience and meaningful for the participants.”
