The Book Festival is pleased to announce that Shannon Stephens joined its staff this month as Community Engagement Director. Shannon will be assisting with all aspects of the Festival, but she will focus on developing more author visits to schools and growing our educational outreach efforts. Shannon will also concentrate on cultivating partnerships with other non-profit organizations, fundraising and friend raising, and managing the Book Festival volunteers.
Shannon has served on the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and as co-chair of the Book Festival Fiction Contest committee. Given this involvement with both SABF and SAPLF, Shannon is uniquely qualified in that she is familiar with the internal workings of both.
“This is an exciting time for all of us at the Book Festival,” says Katy Flato, SABF Executive Director. “With Shannon on the team, we’ll have more bandwidth to run a fantastic event, increase our impact in the community, and secure plans for the Festival’s future.”
Tracey Bennett, President of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, adds, “Shannon’s addition marks a continued growth for SABF. As we enter our fifth year, we’re very fortunate to be able to expand the team to meet the Festival’s increasing needs. We look forward to seeing Shannon’s talents help the Festival thrive.”
