About the Event

What’s the shape of a family? How can we live to our fullest and truest selves? These award-winning authors ask exactly that in their new novels. In Middle Spoon by Alejandro Varela, the narrator appears to be living the dream—until he spirals into heartbreak for the first time and must confront a world still struggling to understand polyamorous relationships. This Is the Only Kingdom by Jaquira Díaz is a look into the dark social truths that one woman faces as a young matriarch and the freedom that her daughter finds as her truest and fullest self. This session will question the unspoken rules we still live by, whether they be taboos or grief.
