Ioffe offers, in one of the most praised books of 2025, a bold cultural analysis of a history that continues to define our world today.

Julia Ioffe

Julia Ioffe is a Russian-born American journalist. Her articles have appeared in The Washington PostThe New York TimesThe New YorkerForeign PolicyForbesBloomberg BusinessweekThe New RepublicPolitico, and The Atlantic. Ioffe has appeared on television programs on MSNBC, CBS, PBS, and other news channels as a Russia expert. She is a founding partner and Washington correspondent at Puck.

Ioffe joins the Book Festival to discuss her book, Motherland: A Feminist History of Modern Russia, from Revolution to Autocracy.

Michelle Cuellar Everidge

Michelle Cuellar Everidge, PhD, is CEO and President of the Witte Museum, where she leads Texas’s premier museum of nature, science, and culture as it celebrates its centennial in 2026. Appointed the museum’s first Latina CEO in 2025, she rose through senior leadership roles at the Witte, advancing institutional strategy, fundraising, and major public initiatives. A San Antonio native and public historian, Dr. Everidge focuses on sharing authentic stories of Texas Deep Time for families and lifelong learners. She holds degrees from Princeton University, Parsons School of Design and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and the University of Delaware.
