Melissa C. Sorola is an experienced communications leader with proficiency in developing and leading communications strategy for CPS Energy, the nation’s largest municipally owned natural gas and electric company. As the Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing, Melissa leads CPS Energy team members responsible for internal and external communications, marketing, stakeholder engagement and the Customer Resolutions & Solutions team. She and her team engage customers, employees, and stakeholders with positive communication through proactive and creative storytelling.
She has been a member of the CPS Energy team for 8 years and has more than 21 years of experience in media relations, crisis communications, and strategic communications planning and execution. Prior to joining CPS Energy, Melissa worked for the former Time Warner Cable as Director of Communications for their Texas Region.
She currently sits on the board of the San Antonio Book Festival and is the Co-Chair of the Large Public Power Council (LPPC)’s Communications Network. She has served her community by participating on the boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) San Antonio chapter. She was a member of Leadership San Antonio (LSA) Class 37 and served as a Steering Committee member for LSA Class 41.
Melissa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University, and she completed the Rice Advanced Management Program at Rice University.
