The San Antonio Book Festival proudly presents GET LIT: Brit Bennett in conversation with Jason Reynolds. Brit Bennett’s second novel, The Vanishing Half, was named a BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR by Entertainment Weekly, Vulture, USA Today, GQ, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, and Bustle. It has been on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 20 weeks. This event is presented free to the public; donations benefit the San Antonio Book Festival.

About the author: Born and raised in Southern California, Brit Bennett graduated from Stanford University and later earned her MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan, where she won a Hopwood Award in Graduate Short Fiction as well as the 2014 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers. A 5 Under 35 honoree, her work is featured in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Jezebel, and more, and her first novel The Mothers was a New York Times bestseller.

About the moderator: Jason Reynolds is a #1 New York Times bestselling author, a Newbery Award Honoree, a Printz Award Honoree, a two-time National Book Award finalist, a Kirkus Award winner, a two-time Walter Dean Myers Award winner, an NAACP Image Award Winner, and the recipient of multiple Coretta Scott King honors. Reynolds is also the 2020–2021 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. His many books include When I Was the Greatest, The Boy in the Black Suit, All American Boys (cowritten with Brendan Kiely), As Brave as You, For Every One, the Track series (Ghost, Patina, Sunny, and Lu), Look Both Ways, and Long Way Down, which received a Newbery Honor, a Printz Honor, and a Coretta Scott King Honor.
