About the Event

Author-illustrator Greg Foley’s Dex Dingo: World’s Best Greatest Ever Archaeologist is the second book in his graphic-novel series about the coolest jobs ever—like finding lost treasure and solving ancient mysteries! Author-illustrator C. S. Jennings’s Pet Shop Racers will start reading engines with this action-packed, hilarious graphic novel about a hamster and a ferret becoming racecar drivers—and maybe best friends. These two author-illustrators will show off the zany drawings and imaginative characters in their books. This will be a fun session for grade-schoolers!

Greg Foley

Greg Foley didn’t know what he wanted to be when he grew up. So he never really grew up. Just like Dex Dingo, he’s always wanted to be the World’s Best Greatest Ever at something. He tries his best at being lots of different things, such as author, illustrator, designer, director, cartoonist, New Yorker cover artist, teacher, inventor, and dad.

Along the way, Greg has received numerous honors, including the Charlotte Zolotow Award, Art Directors Club Gold and Silver Awards, a Grammy nomination, and a Guinness World Record. His work has been exhibited at places such as the Museum of Modern Art, Centre Pompidou, New York Public Library, Yale’s Beinecke Library, and many more. He is the author/illustrator of 13 books, including Thank You BearWilloughby & the MoonPurple Little BirdKat Writes a Song, and Dex Dingo: World’s Best Greatest Ever! Greg lives in Austin, Texas, with his family.

Greg is joining the Book Festival to discuss the latest in the Dex Dingo series, Dex Dingo: World’s Best Greatest Ever Archaeologist!

C. S. Jennings

C. S. Jennings is the illustrator of over two dozen books for kids. He’s made books with Penguin Random House, Disney Hyperion, Scholastic, and Houghton Mifflin, among others.

He’s the author-illustrator of Disney Publishing’s Pet Shop Racers, a three-volume graphic novel series; and the empathy-focused picture book Whoa Panda!; and he has more books on the way! Notably, he illustrated the Texas Library Association Bluebonnet 2020–2021 Master List book From an Idea to Disney: How Imagination Built a World of Magic.

As an animator and assistant animation director, he worked on two feature films and two seasons of a television show.

C.S.’s mission as an author is that of humor, heart, and healing—crafting each story with kernels of hope and laughter. A Texas native, he makes his home in Austin with three curious cats and an unruly pug named Argento.
