About the Event

Storytelling runs deep in San Antonio. Worth Repeating: San Antonio Stories is a collection of forty true tales, epic adventures, and intimate revelations from the heart of San Antonio. Editors Paul Flahive, Tori Pool, and Burgin Streetman selected these personal narratives from the original performances at Worth Repeating, Texas Public Radio’s live storytelling series.

Paul Flahive

Paul Flahive is a journalist for Texas Public Radio currently serving as the station’s first accountability reporter. He founded Worth Repeating, TPR’s live storytelling series, in 2015 and was its producer until 2020. His reporting has been heard on All Things ConsideredMorning EditionMarketplaceScience Friday, and Here and Now and has been included in winning entries for two Edward R. Murrow Awards. He a co-editor of Worth Repeating: San Antonio Stories.

Tori Pool

Tori Pool is a Texas writer and comedian and the events manager at Texas Public Radio, where she produces the station’s live storytelling series, Worth Repeating, and other community events. She is a two-time nominee for the San Antonio Current’s Best Stand-Up Comic and the co-author of the card game Latino Card Revoked. A regular at Texas comedy clubs, she has opened for Cristela Alonzo, Mo Amer, Drew Carey, and Tom Green. She is a co-editor of Worth Repeating: San Antonio Stories.

Burgin Streetman

Burgin Streetman is a writer and the assistant director of Trinity University Press. She started her career in books at Doubleday Book Shop in New York City and has worked for Barnes & Noble, the Jim Henson Company, and Artisan Books. She has written for the San Antonio Express-News, the San Antonio Current, and the San Antonio Report and blogs at Vintage Kids’ Books My Kid Loves. She lives in San Antonio. She is a co-editor of Worth Repeating: San Antonio Stories.

Carlos Maestas

Carlos Maestas believes storytelling is the best way organizations and people can move others to action. He is the founder and chief storysmith at Key Ideas, a Texas-based storytelling firm that helps organizations sharpen and share their messages. Carlos has interviewed thousands of people in his career, and since Key Ideas was started in 2002, it has won multiple awards and received five Lone Star EMMY nominations. A stand-up comedian who once opened for Saturday Night Live alum Dennis Miller, Carlos also has an MBA from The Univeristy of Incarnate Word and a BA in Marketing from UTSA. His book on Storytelling, Mommy Lied to God, launched in the Summer of 2020 and quickly became an Amazon bestseller. In January 2024, District One City Councilwoman Dr. Sukh Kaur appointed Carlos to the Brooks City Base Board. Carlos is Chair-elect of the SAISD Foundation board and serves on marketing advisory committees for the DoSeum and the San Antonio Food Bank. Carlos is married to an educator, and he and his wife have three kids.
